Dear {{firstname}},

Welcome to the Volume 10 Edition of the McCartney Newsletter.

Spring is here. A Royal wedding. Just in time to bring some light and joy into this chaotic world we're living in. It's a time where we can be proud to be British, and since the recent actions of our brave elite US forces overseas, proud to be American! At McCartney, we thought we'd bring you our own little commentary on the ceremony. Since it's viewed live here on the West Coast at around 3 AM, you must forgive the state of our commentators.

The Royal Wedding McCartney Style

Why on EARTH they call those crazy hats "fascinators" was beyond our crack Royal Expert correspondent, mother and daughter team. The only thing fascinating about them is how anyone could put one on, look in the mirror and say" I look splendid". Perhaps famed Irish milliner Philip Treacy is getting the last laugh on his British customers? Click on our fearless fashionistas to see the YouTube 3am to 5am commentary... and watch out Joan and Melissa!

If you're thinking of stalking the newlyweds in their North Wales neighborhood, first, you'd better learn to pronounce the name of the nearby village by listening to this fab song from iFanz Artist Don Woods.

"GEIST" Launch Party

A long time ago I made a promise to myself. This album would be ready by my 50th birthday, or I would get out of the music business for good. After almost 20 years of writing, composing and singing, it's finally done. GEIST is born!

Actually, the album was mastered by Richard Dodd with mixmeister Niko Bolas at his side in Nashville, TN on the 4th of April, my birthday! Niko even cut short a trip to Florida to get it done on the day. Thanks Bro. So, we go it done, what's next? First, we had a little party to commemorate! Thanks to all that have been involved in making it happen!
It will be available online very soon.
In the meantime you can become a "Disciple" and join the "GEIST Community", by signing up here...

GreatCall.com

We recently produced the tone and voice over package for GreatCall.com, the company that brought you the original Jitterbug telephone. They are now branching out into additional devices to be launched soon.
Coming up with unique sounds for cell phones can be quite a challenge. How do you produce something new and exciting and at the same time shape a brand via audio? Well, you put composer (Victor Alexeeff) and producer (Martin Nethercutt) to work.

The GreatCall.com audio package included over 200 custom designed ringtones and voice over prompts in both English and Spanish.

Here's some more info on the company from their web site:

"As the mobile services company created by people with real lives just like you, we understand the importance of being connected to friends, family, and the experiences and enjoyment you get out of each day. That’s why we’ve always insisted on simplicity with a human touch in everything we do. All of our phones are designed to be easy to set up and easy to use. Our personalized services and customizable applications keep you connected, safe and healthy. And one phone call is all it takes to reach GreatCall representatives who are friendly, knowledgeable and available 24 hours a day to answer your questions. We believe that mobile service should enhance your life…and you can count on us every day to go that extra mile for you."

Strategy

In this vast and ever fast developing world of web and mobile technology, sometimes it's easy to get confused and become lost. We're all familiar with the traditional web site by now - (we've built 100's of them for our clients over the past 15 years) - but when you hear words like "Joomla" "Wordpress" "Ruby on Rails" "Ajax" "RedDot" and "Magento", the confusion grows. The Germans have a nice word for this: "Kauderwelsch"

These new software platforms allow for a wider range of control by the end user, YOU! Over the last couple of years we have become not only experts in developing these content management systems for our clients, but we've also upped the ante by adding an online / offline strategy to our product line.

Questions like: "How do I manage my online content?," "What is the target demographic for my service or product?," "Do I need a Social Media Campaign to help with visibility and sales?" are common, and we have developed customized online strategies to aid you in your success.

Whether you need a business plan to attract investment to your idea, or simply need a new hosting platform for your content, at McCartney we have solutions for you.

Please feel free to contact us and we can talk about creating and delivering a custom analysis and strategy for your business or product. Whether you're just starting out, or reinforcing/re-launching an already successful brand, we have many avenues available to you in the digital world.

Jenny Jarnagin just released her new album: "Play The Blame Game" on iFanz Records.

This is Jenny’s third CD release. Play The Blame Game features twelve original tunes and continues to reveal the depth of her incredible creativity. While leaning slightly on the sounds from her last release, "He Brings Me Coffee," this collection is more Jarnagin-ish than the last. Those who have come to know her through her lyrics will not be disappointed.
Jenny continues to tell it like it is.
“Best thing I’ve heard all year!.” – Alan Dahl, E.A.R. Professional Audio and Video

Our own Pete Price at a radio show last week in London with Jennifer Hudson. Pete is one of Liverpool's best-known entertainers.
Born in 1946 in West Kirby, Wirral, he grew up with adopted mother Hilda May Price and trained to be a chef. But after persuading his bosses at the Cabin Club to let him put a few records on one night, he became one of Liverpool's first DJ’s.
From there he moved to the legendary Shakespeare Club working with Tommy Cooper, Bob Monkhouse, Freddie Starr and other top 1970’s names as the club's compere. At the same time he interviewed Paul McCartney, Shirley Bassey and others on his Radio Merseyside show “Never Mind the Price”.
Pete went on the road as a comic after successfully appearing on ITV's New Faces, and took his act all over the world. But by the end of the 1980’s he decided to return to Liverpool establishing himself as the city's number one talk host. Last year he won a European Radio award and New York Radio Academy award for best talk show, and was nominated for a Sony award, as he is again this coming week.

Oleta Adams

After years of being out of production, COME WALK WITH ME is available once again! Oleta is thrilled to announce she has made the Grammy nominated, fan favorite, faith based CD available through her website.
Oleta's Gospel release, "Come Walk With Me," finds Oleta clearly representing who she is musically, continuing the stylings that have brought her such widespread acclaim. For Oleta, this album is truly a reflection of who she is spiritually. It is a musical statement from one who has wrestled with the basic issues of her faith, as well from one who rebelled against the demands and expectations of being a pastor's child. This album could have been named "Full Circle", for it is a testament to God's faithfulness to his children.
Oleta remains anchored by her upbringing in the Pacific Northwest where she first demonstrated her budding vocal gifts in the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where her father served as minister. By the time Oleta was eleven, she was directing and accompanying four choirs, having already established herself as a piano prodigy.
Gospel music was always a strong influence in her previous recordings, but it was never fully explored as in this album. Come Walk With Me was Billboard's #4 Gospel CD and Top 10 Contemporary Christian CD.

Photography - Vivian Maier

Vivian Maier was a nanny who lived in Chicago for most of her life and passed away in 2009 at the age of 83. Little more is known about her, than she was an avid street photographer. Her work was discovered in 2007, when more than 100,000 negatives and undeveloped film, were sold by a storage facility who were cleaning out her locker for delinquent rent.

Restaurant of The Month

A Tripel Threat in Playa del Rey
Beer, Wine, and Grub by the Beach

Go West, foodies and craft beer enthusiasts of inland Los Angeles.
Sure, there will be freeways with perilous lane changes, feckless motorcyclists, and bouts of road rage. But the gastro pilgrimage is worth it, for at the journey’s end lies The Tripel, Playa del Rey’s new beer and small-production wine bar.
The handiwork of husband-and-wife team Brooke Williamson and Nick Roberts (Beechwood, Hudson House) and Dex Studio designer Glen Bell, the restaurant pairs artisanal libations with innovative bistro fare in an industrial-chic setting.
Sidle up to a communal repurposed steel factory table to refuel with a bottle of Lagunitas. Or shift gears to ponder the Sumerian beer-making poem carved into the wall while indulging in baked potato dumplings, a Tripel burger (duck confit, pork, and aged beef with truffle pecorino and apricot jam), and rocky road fudge.

The Tripel, 333 Culver Boulevard, between Nicholson Street and Pershing Drive, Playa del Rey (310-821-0333 or thetripel.com).

Angie's One Liners

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Whose idea was it to put an 'S' in the word 'lisp'?

The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons are suffering from some sort of mental illness.. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Getting a little action means your prune juice is working.

The best way to forget all your problems is to wear tight shoes.

Carrie Grossman

Soma-Bandhu: Friend of the Moon

Devotional chants and rhythmic mantras rich with layered harmonies still the waves of the mind and draw the listener deep inside.

Artist Bio

Carrie never formally studied music; she only knows that her heart has songs inside. When she first traveled to India over
a decade ago, something happened: The sacred sounds of India's ancient scriptures snuck into her soul and never left. It wasn't long before she became a closet chanter, singing for hours in the woods and the rain, the kitchen and the car. She never intended to make a recording, but this album came like an unplanned pregnancy after going steady with the Beloved for many years. In the quiet of the Berkshire Mountains, the melodies that once lived invisibly inside of her took form, and nine months later Soma-Bandhu was born. Carrie thinks life is a crazy mystery and hopes her music inspires you to rest in the limitless love that you are.

You are listening to: Jai Ma from the album Soma-Bandhu.
