Welcome to the Volume 17 edition of the McCartney Newsletter.
Ruth, Martin, Angie and cousin Bruce attended BritWeek, the annual festival showcasing British business and influence in California.
This year's opening Gala was held at the amazing Hancock Park home of "Everybody Loves Raymond's" Patricia Heaton and her husband, British actor and Juilliard graduate Richard Hunt. Thank you both so much for your hospitality! A grand time was had by all including Co-founder Nigel Lythgoe of So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol, Jeri Ryan, Fred Willard, Jackie Collins, The Reverend Jessie Jackson and a host of fun folks from across the pond.
In this, the year of the 60th Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen, it was a fab time to be a Brit abroad.
THE celebration of British excellence in California, BritWeek (a non-profit organization) operates with cooperation from US and UK government entities, leading businesses and local organizations of all sizes to produce a stellar line-up of events for every budget and inclination. The program features art & design, film & television, music, theatre, literature, science & technology, fashion, retail, cuisine, pro sports, vintage cars, business innovation awards, star-studded red carpet receptions and charity galas, museum exhibitions…and the list expands each year!"
Slash releases new Album in Mativision 360
Slash launches Mativision app in iTunes® store
Let's talk Slash. Let's talk legend. As in Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame legend. Team Slash turned to our client Mativision to come into the studio and create an "I was there" experience both in 360 video and also now in a world's first App for iPhone and iPad! You can literally turn your iPad around and see inside the secret Hollywood studio from everyone's angle... even the control room. Stand alongside Myles Kennedy. Watch producer Eric Valentine in the control room. Be a digital fly on the wall. We just wish that Mativision had existed back in the Abbey Road days.... can you even "imagine"?
It's an awesome piece of work, and at McCartney Multimedia,Inc. we're very proud of being a part of bringing this deal together!
The bottom line: It's a great buy!"
Angie is pictured here at the ABC's (Associates for Breast and Prostate Cancer) Mother's Day Luncheon, benefiting the John Wayne Cancer Institute, and organized by the iconic event producer Marsha Grant. We sat with Patrick and Ethan Wayne, sons of The Duke himself and learned all about the amazing strides that are being made in new technologies and medicines for this devastating disease.
It was held at the Four Seasons, Beverly Hills. The honorees were Kris Jenner (Kardashian), Guiliana Rancic and NFL contributor and news broadcaster Gillian Barberie-Reynolds.

The following weekend saw Ruth attend a VERY moving event for the Future Fund at the incredible home of Sherry Lansing - the first female CEO of a major motion picture studio - Paramount Pictures.
21 years ago, under the umbrella of Big Brothers Big Sisters, broadcaster Sarah Purcell presented Sherry with an idea to fund scholarships for young girls from troubled backgrounds, tough neighborhoods and broken homes.
They have been able to fund hundreds of educational grants and scholarships through the years with their hard work, dedication, generosity, Rolodexes and more than a little help from a team of passionate volunteers. Congratulations to all!

Jonas visits L.A.
Canadian Rock Superstar Jonas was in town for a week gathering songs and material for his upcoming album. In true songwriter fashion we spent a few evenings putting riffs, chords and melodies together, which will eventually lead to a new song. "When you write by yourself you know your environment, the world you live in musically. When you write with someone as talented as Jonas you've got to not only bring your A-Game, you also have to function as two writers approaching unknown musical territory." - Martin Nethercutt
McCartney Artist Development
We're thrilled to be working with Alusia Entertainment and Impresario Lawrence Kutun - as he is the man who found 3 kids from Detroit called DeCada Green. Learn about how we produce the journey that is Artist Development here.
"Having just seen the movie, I think the best way to describe it is if you like a great soundtrack and don't mind a Broadway play storyline, and especially if you were born in the 60's than this one is for you. We understand it has been dissed by the critics but we found it very amusing, Cruise and Baldwin were hilarious!" - Martin
"I Love Rock'n Roll" by co-writer Jake Hooker is featured in the movie.
Set in 1987 Los Angeles, Drew and Sherrie are two young people chasing their dreams in the big city. When they meet, it's love at first sight, though their romance will face a series of challenges.
Our dear friend and client, Rikki Klieman appeared on CBS this morning giving legal insight about "texting whilst driving.

What’s In A Name? Everything When Using and Protecting Your Business’s
Most Important Asset
The importance of branding your goods or services and protecting those brands can’t be understated. Brands or Marks (Trademarks for goods and Service Marks for services) are a company’s most important asset and can generate consistent and substantial revenues.
All companies have and own Marks. Many companies don’t know this, let alone how valuable Marks are and that Marks need to be available for their use as brands and then protected to be effectively monetized. One can also “reserve” a Mark, even if the goods or services haven’t yet been used in commerce.
What’s A Mark?
Basically, a Mark is a monopoly on a word, phrase, symbol, sound, moving image, name, fragrance, color or combination of these used to designate and identify the source and origin of products or services. It can’t be used by competitors for similar goods and services. Some famous examples of Marks are Xerox® for photocopy machines and the color pink for building insulation.
Why Is It So Valuable?
Without a Mark to serve as a source identifier, how do your customers or clients know who you are, what you do, what you stand for and that they want your products or services instead of your competitors’? Imagine selling a Coke® if it couldn’t be identified as a “Coke.” Without the “Coke” brand, it’s just another cola-flavored soft drink. People buy a Coke because they want a Coke. They have a certain expectation of what a Coke is, what drinking it means and they want to participate in the experience.
Recipe of The Month
Ruth's German Schnitzel
To pound meat thin you may want to place the cutlet between sheets of plastic wrap for easier washing up. Use a heavy, flat-surface pan to pound if you don’t have a meat mallet.
Pound the meat evenly to 1/4 inch thickness for best results.
Do not press the bread crumbs into the meat. The crust should not adhere completely, but form a loose shell around the schnitzel.
Make sure the breaded meat “swims” in fat. Contrary to instinct, the breading will take on less oil than if the meat is sticking to the pan. Also, the breadcrumb topping has a chance to puff up a little, and your clean up is easier! Wiener Schnitzel in pan.
Set up 3 shallow dishes. Place the flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt in one and breadcrumbs in another. Beat eggs well and place in the third dish.
Angie's One Liners
"The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's sure still on the list."
"Going to church doesn't make you religious any more than standing in a garage makes you a car."
"Children - you spend the first 2 years of their lives teaching them to walk and talk, and the next 16 telling them to shut up and sit down."
"To steal from one person is called plagiarism. To steal from many is called research."
